81 Years in the Community |
The Junior League of Rockford, Inc., founded on April 11, 1930, has contributed 81 years of service to the Rock River Valley. Throughout its long history, Junior League members have received the training and knowledge necessary to build coalitions, identify community needs and develop effective and responsive programs to serve those needs. The Junior League of Rockford’s first community project, Ken-Rock Community Center, was initiated in 1930 and remains an integral part of the community today with many other JLR projects that were developed over the years. As part of its 80th anniversary celebration in 2010-2011, Junior League of Rockford launched an "8 Gifts to the Community" community service initiative which included eight additional community service projects
all aimed at improving the lives of those in Rockford and the surrounding
community. The 8 gifts to the community were as follows:
1) Painting Bright Side Adult Day Center
2) Kids In The Kitchen, Rockford Public Library
3) Halloween Party at Ken-Rock Community Center

5) Girls On Their Way Retreat, Womanspace
